Brownfield High takes second in UIL state one act play
Brownfield High School's UIL one act play Ethan Frome earned second place at the Class 4A state contest in Austin. Sara Addison won the Samuel French award and a $500 UT scholarship, Jeff Milburn was named best actor with another $500 UT scholarship, Debbie Davis made the state all star cast, and more BHS performers were honored in poetry interpretation and speaking events.

Cotton planting under way as rain delays loom in 1983
The Brownfield News reports farmers expect to start cotton planting within 7 to 10 days and mostly between May 10 and 25. Local producers cite underground moisture as favorable but call for 0.5 to 1 inch of rain to wet the topsoil and aid root establishment. Conservation district hosts soil stewardship breakfast today
The Terry County Soil and Water Conservation District holds its Annual Soil Stewardship Week Breakfast at 8 a.m. in Brownfield at the Church of Christ Family Living Center.
