Brownfield Police investigate burglary spree at local schools
Brownfield police investigated two school burglaries and two bicycle thefts in a busy week. A Tuesday break in at Intermediate School used a pried door hasp. a Friday break in at Oak Grove Elementary saw a window entry and theft of 40 pounds of meat. At Plains Motor Company Wednesday, suspects took a pioneer amfm cassette player a CB radio and four speakers. Roy Rodriguez was arrested for marijuana possession after a warrant led officers to a residence where baggies of suspected marijuana were found.

Grand Jury Indicts Rico for Manslaughter in Tractor Crash
The Terry County district grand jury indicted Eddie Montayo Rico on charges of failure to stop and render aid and involuntary manslaughter in connection with a April 13 tractor collision on a public road. The accident injured Cassie Smith Wheatley fatally and involved a nap stripe plow extended into the oncoming lane. Laurence Wilson, Jr. was among others named in the indictments.
