F&S Pharmacy Robbery Sets Off Town Alarm

A masked gunman robbed F&S Pharmacy on To hoka Road Wednesday afternoon taking 133 in cash and about 200 in drugs. Bill Frizzell and employee Chris Reed described a white man in a flimsy stocking cap who demanded drugs and money before the thief fled, leaving police with two suspects and local cooperation ongoing.

Union High to Hold At Large School Board Election

Union School will conduct a school board trustee election on April 5 at the high school with polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Superintendent Robert Smotherman announced candidates Clar ence Faught Kermitt Shults and Doyle Hewitt. The two top vote earners will win the at large seats.

Juvenile Officer Position Open in Terry County

County Judge Herbert Chesshir announces an opening for a juvenile officer in Terry County. Applications are accepted at the courthouse office with backing from the county, city, and schools. Richard Quisenberry, who held the post for five months, was relieved of duties between days.

County Court Hears Pleas of Guilty and One Jury Trial

Criminal docket for Terry County was called for March 17 with County Judge Herb Chesshir presiding. Several pleas of guilty were heard and one jury trial conducted. Multiple defendants entered pleas including many for DWI and related offenses. one verdict of guilty was returned with sentence to be set in ten days.

Lee Bartlett Named Chief of Lamesa Police Department

Lee Bartlett Jr a Brownfield Police Department captain and assistant chief was named chief of police in Lamesa at a called meeting. He will replace J P Bobo who resigns March 31 and takes effect April 1 Bartlett and his family plan to relocate to Lamesa Bartlett expressed mixed feelings about leaving Brownfield praising the department and citizens while thanking Chief Tippit City Manager Geron and the Brownfield News for support.
