County Removes Crow Bounty After Wildlife Service Input

Argument Precedes Knife and Gun Incident in Brownfield Flats
A Sunday morning altercation near a club led to Lionel Morin, 19, being shot in the chest by Clyde Young after Morin allegedly pulled a knife during an argument that began with a horn honk. Morin was treated at Brownfield General Hospital then moved to Methodist in Lubbock. Police responded at 6:07 a.m. and found Morin about 200 feet south of the club.

Newton Named Area Supervisor for Amoco in West Texas
James N. Newton was named area administrative supervisor for Amoco Production Company here effective March 23, announced by John Okerson. Newton succeeds Richard Tucker who retired. A Baird native and UT accounting graduate, Newton joined Amoco in 1951 as a roustabout near Longview and held posts in Andrews Midland Brownfield and other offices. He is active with the South Plains American Petroleum Institute and the American Legion Post 269 in Brownfield. He and his wife Laverne reside at 1416 Reppte. their son, Rev James N Newton Jr., attends SMU in Dallas. Amoco Production is a major oil producer in West Texas and is a U S exploration and production subsidiary of Standard Oil Company (Indiana).
