Gary approves budget with water rate hike in spring meeting

The Brownfield city council approved a 3,821,391 dollar budget for 1976 77 and raised water charges from 3 50 to 4 00 for up to 3 000 gallons and from 60 to 60 cents per 1 000 gallons above that. The plan preserves most rates and adds a fuel cost adjustment to electric bills while emphasizing use of Revenue Sharing Funds for capital projects.

County Farmers Urged to Follow Hormone Herbicide Rules

Agriculture Commissioner John C. White tells Terry County farmers to observe Texas rules on hormone type herbicides. Permits required for plots of ten acres or more. smaller plots require notification before spraying. He warns drift can injure cotton, fruits, vegetables, and ornamentals and advises 20 to 30 psi and 0–3 mph winds, halt spraying above 10 mph or 90 degrees. Read the label and follow directions.

Crescent Hill Church Announces Week of Special Services

Bob Reynolds of Crescent Hill Church of Christ will host a Christ centered series March 21 to 26 with Pat Abbananto of 37th Street Church of Christ preaching. Regular Sunday programs run 10 a.m. Bible classes, 10 50 a.m. and 6 30 p.m. services. daily sessions at 10 a.m. and 7 30 p.m. at 502 Lubbock Road with fellowship lunch at noon.

Groundbreaking services for the new Pleasant Valley Gin three miles east of Brownfield on the Tohoka Highway will be held at 9 o clock Tuesday morning March 23. Dignitaries will attend and residents of Brownfield and surrounding area are invited. Johnnie Nunley owner and manager said coffee Cokes and doughnuts will be served.
