Brownfield Cubs win Seminole meet title in tight finish

Brownfield edged Crane 21 194 to claim the third annual Seminole Invitation Track and Field Meet. Larry Meeks led with 14.6 in the 120 yard high hurdles and a 16.7 prelim time, Bip Johnnie Mack Jones added a 6 foot high jump, and Brownfield broke 12 records overall as Jones, Meeks, and teammates highlighted the victory.

Terry County Retail Volume Hits Record $22.5 Million

The Standard Rate and Data Service reports Terry County’s retail spending for the year ending July 1, 1957 rose to 22,524,000, surpassing the prior 21,849,000 record by 3.2 percent while U S retail growth was 2.4 percent. Food stores totaled 4,713,000 and automotive stores 7,159,000 of the local sales.
