Budget Approved By Council Citizens Show Little Interest

Brownfield council approved the annual budget with mild citizen interest. The plan raises General Fund by 16 000 and Water Fund reflects new rates. a 3 percent salary rise for city workers is included and hospital bond details are discussed for April 1.

Lengthy Agenda Faces Trustees

Brownfield School trustees meet in regular session at 7:30 p.m. in the high school library with Paul Farrar presiding. Items include staff changes, a coming year’s teacher list, building use after hours for tornado shelters, a conference in April, bids on duplicator paper and an agricultural tractor, transport feasibility for sixth period athletes, calendar amendments, Title I continuation, and participation in AAAS science programs. A 6:30 a.m. called meeting on April 3 will canvas election returns from April 1.

February births and deaths reported in Brownfield

A total of 32 births were recorded in Brownfield during February with 15 females and 17 males. The year to date births reach 58. Nine deaths occurred in February with four due to heart conditions. Other causes included pneumonia two, two newborn infants, and one intracranial hemorrhage.

Rotary Club Has Two Part Program on Hospital Bond

Brownfield Rotary Club heard a two part program Friday. Terry Memorial Hospital Board favors a bond issue on April 1 to fund a new facility with federal Hill Burton support and local bonds. The talk covered renovation costs and tax impacts while DeMolay Week and Rainbow Girls contest news were also noted.

Lions State Easter Egg Hunt at Coleman Park Saturday

Brownfield Lions Club will sponsor its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday in Coleman Park adjacent to the Party House. Ray Anderson chairs the event with Jimmie Keeler as co chair. Children are divided into three divisions preschool, grades one through three, and grades four through six with prizes in each division.

THP Reports Two Accidents in Terry County February

Texas Highway Patrol records show two rural Terry County accidents in February injuring two people with $4625 in property damage. Through the first two months of 1967 nine county accidents left five hurt and $10,475 in damage, no fatalities. Sergeant Roberts warns that April 15 ends the 1967 safety sticker period and violators face up to $200 fines.
