319 Animals Entered In Terry County Junior Livestock Show

Steve Mason showed the Grand Champion steer a heavy weight Angus while Pat Greens Hereford was reserve champion. The Terry County show hosted weights judging Friday and Saturday with 199 participants sharing 5717 dollars in prize money. Major winners across hogs lambs and cattle included Monty Henson Jim Wilkes Tommy Newsom and Archie Chrestman among others.

Brownfield Chamber Kicks Off annual Membership Drive

Brownfield Chamber of Commerce started its annual membership drive with a 7 a.m. breakfast at the Holiday House. Vernon Clem is membership chairman. Six District Court Jury Verdicts Reported

Last week six cases were tried in District Court with Judge M. C. Ledbetter presiding. Reynaldo Aguirre Garcia was found not guilty of murder with malice aforethought and released. Eary Douglas Minor was found guilty of murder without malice aforethought and sentenced to five years. Lorenzo Diaz was acquitted of unlawful possession of marihuana. Joe Audon Gutierrez was found guilty of murder without malice aforethought and sentenced to three years. Willis Ray Williams had theft over $5 but under $50 reduced. guilty and fined and jailed. O V Alexander pled guilty to forgery and passing and placed on five years probation.

Pancake Supper Promises Busy Evening at Brownfield

Willis Weber, Kiwanis Club chair, said tickets are moving fast for the annual Pancake Supper set to start at 5 p.m. in Brownfield Junior High and run to 8:30 p.m. Bobby Craig and Tommy Jones of the Wayland Parker Chapter DeMolays spoke on the organization during National DeMolay Week. Seven new members were inducted: Johnny Willis, Dwayne Gallaway, Jay Blevins, Charles Wilkes, Garland Moore, Thomas Bartley, Maurice Martin.
