Brownfield approves 960000 bond plan with April 12 vote
Brownfield School Board set April 12 for a 960000 bond election to fund facility improvements at Brownfield Public Schools. The Citizens Advisory Committee proposed metal PE buildings at elementary schools, plumbing and heating upgrades, exterior door replacements, and a high school practice gym. Carpet removal was urged against due to vandalism concerns.

City Begins Weekly Warning Siren Tests in Brownfield
Beginning April 1, Brownfield will conduct weekly noon siren tests for civil defense tornado warnings. Five sirens ring citywide with a fire tone on fire alerts and a steady tone for tornado alerts. City Hall siren currently the only one audible for fire reports.

Brownfield Middle School Choir Fund Drive Kicks Off
On March 17 the Brownfield Middle School Choir begins a fund raising campaign and will take orders for household products. Proceeds go to the choir fund for future concerts and activities. Students will call on every home offering items like concentrated cleanser degreaser an adjustable sprayer and decorative placemat sets.

The Brownfield Rotary Club marks 50 years of Service Above Self with a banquet at Brownfield Country Club Saturday night. Chartered February 24 1927 and admitted to Rotary International March 19 1927 with support from Lubbock Rotary Club. Commissioner Bevers Injured In Lubbock Wreck
Terry County Commissioner Gerald Clay Bevers 46 was treated and released after a two car collision in Lubbock Friday. Dr. Aaron Oberg 69 of Lubbock died at Methodist Hospital when his car failed to stop at a stop sign on Canton Street. Oberg’s Impala and Bevers’ Ford pickup were heavily damaged around 5 p.m. The crash left Bevers with facial cuts and cracked ribs.
