Law Activity At Slow Pace In Local Sheriff Activity
Over four days law enforcement logged several arrests and incidents. Eunice Howard Farrar was jailed for driving while intoxicated and released on $500 bond. Audreyl Earl Sutton faced drunken in a car charges and paid a $67.50 fine. Others, including Sam Richard Dennis Tommy Joe Mathis and Clarence A Emery, were cited on liquor and curfew violations with fines ranging from $20 to $25. A series of minor wrecks occurred on Broadway and Fifth streets involving local residents and vehicles. A theft of an impact wrench was reported by Doug Ryburn at the Finn Station with an estimated replacement cost of about $200.

Directors Recommend Name Change for County Chamber
The Board of Directors proposes renaming Brownfield Chamber of Commerce to Terry County Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture with votes due by 5 p.m. March 14. Harold Klein says the chamber represents residents of Brownfield Meadow Wellman Union Foster Gomez Johnson and surrounding areas and serves retailers farmers teachers and clerks. The change would not affect current dues and aims to reflect the chamber’s wide county interests including a watermelons market project and ongoing efforts to attract industry.
