Power Blackout Traced To SPS Connection
Brownfield and several surrounding towns reported a power outage Monday morning traced to a fault in the Southwestern Public Service System. City officials said Brownfield, powered entirely by SPS at the time, switched to city generators once the outage was detected and experienced a 15 minute to one hour blackout. By afternoon the city was back on SPS power as investigators probed the cause described as fairly massive and affecting the southern half of the SPS system.

Hospital Board Hears First Quarter Report

Bingo Election Petition Read Accepted By Commissioners
Terry County will hold an April 3 election to decide legalizing bingo. County Clerk Frank Gray reported 420 approved signatures from voters in precinct one and parts of Brownfield, with 273 signatures required. Election will run 7 am to 7 pm at the courthouse. Gertrude Lowe named election judge, J W Hawkins alternate. Commissioners opened seven bids for a diesel powered four wheel loader. none accepted due to jury duty of Precinct One Commissioner.
