Runners on mark for Firecracker Road Race
The Brownfield Firecracker Run sponsored by the West Texas Running Club marks its 34th edition on Friday July 4 at Terry County Park. Founded 1969 by James Morris it began with 20 runners and grew to a top regional race. This year honors Space Shuttle astronaut Willie McCool who ran here in 1978 with George W. Bush.

County Airport to get long awaited facelift
Keith Neill chair of the Terry County Airport Board says a new terminal at Brownfield Airport should be completed by September ahead of the Fly-In. State grant funds half the cost with the Brownfield Industrial Development Corp backing the other half, bids soon to be advertised. The 1,200 square foot terminal will have two handicap accessible restrooms two pilot workspaces and space for a coffee maker and vending machines enhancing the airport’s image.
