The 24-7 Cubs, coached by Armando Sedeno, lost to Pattonville Prairiland 7-4 in the Class AAA state final at Disch Falk Field on the UT campus. Brownfield Middle School Auditorium will host the Sesquicentennial musical drama School Ma arm Meets the Cowboy from June 19 to 28 at 7:30 p.m. The play chronicles Caroline Ellington’s life in early Terry County with a cast including Josie Daniels, Katrinka Rash, Bryan Gelwick, and others. Tickets cost 4 for adults and 3 for children. Additional July 4 events in Brownfield, including park celebrations and fireworks, are planned by local chambers and the Brownfield Business Bureau.

Sodbuster Rules Take Effect June 23 Under Farm Bill
The USDA will release interim final rules for Sodbuster Swampbuster and Conservation Compliance on June 23, applying department wide. Farmers on highly erodible lands or drained wetlands entering production after December 23, 1985 lose USDA benefits that year and later until in compliance. Compliance starts for lands broken after the release date, with full compliance required for all lands broken after December 23, 1985 by 1987, and mitigating cases may be determined by the Secretary.
