BRMC Directors Press On With Doctor Recruitment

BRMC directors extended last month’s meeting focus on attracting more physicians to Brownfield Regional Medical Center. The May census averaged 20.64 patients as they pursue strategies to boost patient numbers and physician capacity at the hospital.

Run-off elections draw few voters in Terry County

Very few Terry County voters turned out for Saturday's Democratic and Republican run-offs. Of 8,310 registered voters, only 206 cast ballots for candidates vying for a November ballot spot. Among them 155 voted in the Democratic primary and 51 in the Republican. Voters chose the winning candidates in four of five races.

Thefts and vandalism plague Brownfield area

Brownfield suffered thefts and vandalism over the weekend. A 1980 Chevrolet truck at Allison Implement lost an am fm radio battery and $410 of property. XYZ Club at 101 S D Street endured $500 damage from graffiti. Crystal Palace Club saw $150 damage and unknown cash taken after arcade machines were broken into. Brownfield Middle School had $500 damage from a smashed window and vandalized rooms. A West Buckley residence burglary netted $750 in missing items and $150 damage. Political results follow with Democratic and Republican primary tallies reported for local and statewide races plus hospital occupancy and staffing notes for Brownfield Regional Medical Center.

Cubs aim for state as Sealy heads to Austin field

Brownfield and Sealy vie for 3A baseball state berth with Prairiland and Medina Valley also advancing. Terry County Commissioners Meeting Brief Enacts Budget Items

In a light regular session on Monday, the Terry County Commissioners approved travel funds for Sandy Mason to attend the Texas Trial Court Management Seminar in Huntsville June 16 to 20 at a cost of 185 dollars and 45 cents. They also approved monthly department reports and discussed repairs to Brow nfield Girls' Softball League facilities, including roof and plumbing fixes. Bids for the Terry County Department of Human Resources Building, damaged by fire February 9, will be opened at the June 23 court meeting. the state will contribute part of the remodeling cost for the 919 East Main building.

Terry County Sports Camp Scheduled For June Sessions

Terry County announces a free summer sports camp for fourth to eighth graders. Boys attend June 16 20 and girls June 23 27 at Brownfield High School with instruction by Terry County coaches led by Ron Holmes. Applications appear on page 12A and calls to 637-8902 for details.
