The Brownfield Independent School District trustees meet at 7 30 p m Monday in the Colonial Heights Library with agenda items including employment recommendations for several staff and a gym bleacher report plus a讨论 of the baseball program. A second meeting is set for Tuesday to open bids for a new area vocational school. Judy Bass, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ochis Bass of Wellman, was named Miss Cotton of Terry County at Wellman High School Auditorium. First runner up was Shirla Caswell. both winners receive cash prizes and will represent Terry County at the Texas Miss Cotton contest in Dallas October 9.

The Terry County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo opened with dust and excitement as rough stock from Red Whatley of Crosbyton performed. Len Sulteneier of Lubbock won bareback riding on Tom Thumb with 48 points, with Ray Ethridge of Lubbock and Perry Lee of Henryetta tying for second at 45. Delbert Hattaway won bull riding with 60 points, and Randall Wilcoson and Arnold Felts led team roping at 8.2 seconds. Trophy presentations preceded the rodeo performance.

Drivers Ed Course Set for High School Students
The second session of Driver Education will begin at 8:30 am on July 13. The course costs 30 and is limited to the first 35 students who register and pay. Brownfield students may register June 22 in the high school principal’s office, with other students registering June 2 at 9 am, no early registrations accepted.

Fight Wrecks Investigated On Highways
The Texas Highway Patrol investigated eight accidents on Terry County highways in May. One death, four injuries, and $8055 in property damage were recorded. Through May 1970, 36 county accidents caused one death and 17 injuries with $63315 in damage. Sgt. Hal Pirtle warns that the upcoming three months may be the deadliest period of the year.
