Brownfield Rotary recognized three local students Shay Moore Shawn Cox and Cottrell at Friday's Coleman Park Party House meeting. Cottrell received a 500 Rotary Scholarship for graduating high school with Band leadership and top academic honors. Moore and Cox earned Rotary Youth Leadership Awards to attend camps this summer.

Brownfield City Council Endorses City Hall Polling Place
In a brief session the Brownfield City Council approved using city hall as a polling place for Saturday's Republican Primary runoff. City Manager Dick Fletcher reported on the wastewater plant, noting pumps and pipes to oxygenate the main pond, weather and rain delays, and a plan to complete the install and return the pond to operation by weekend. Fletcher also addressed a city policy requiring roofers on local homes to be bonded.

Brownfield HS Schedules Summer Classes Across Seven Subjects
Brownfield High School lists summer courses in seven subjects English I II III IV pre algebra algebra I and physical science. Registration runs 8 to noon Monday with classes starting Tuesday. City to require bonds and permits for roofing work
After the May 24 hail, out of town roofers flood the city seeking repairs funded by insurance. Contractors must post a $5,000 bond and obtain building permits with fees based on job cost. Starting June 9, unbonded or unpermitted work will face a stop work order. Homeowners repairing their own property are exempt from bond but not permit. BISD Chief Hits TECAT Release as Unverified
Superintendent Don Hendley criticized the release of TECAT results to TV and press before districts received data. He questioned the reported 98 percent BISD pass rate and said he had not been informed beforehand. He tried to reach the Texas Education Agency in Austin regarding the results.

Wellman School commended by TEA monitoring team
