In Terry County May ended wet with Brownfield receiving over four inches mainly from a Memorial Day weekend storm. City totals included 1.66 inches with hail, 1.5 inches on the 30th, and smaller amounts on the 26th and 27th. Temperature highs reached 100 degrees on May 22 while lows dipped to 42 on the 19th. Farmer reports note abundant rainfall delaying field work with Wellman and Pleasant Valley gin districts among the heaviest hit. By June, Brownfield had 1.42 inches for the month so far, versus a normal 2.41.

Terry County voters set for runoff primaries in Texas
Voters in Terry County will cast ballots Saturday in Democratic and Republican primaries with open polling from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. No county races appear. Democratic runoff races include four for Texas Supreme Court and one for the Texas Railroad Commission. Republican runoff include lieutenant governor, attorney general, land commissioner, and railroad commission seats. Terry County basketball camp planned at Brownfield High
Terry County offers a free two week basketball camp for boys and girls entering grades four through eight this fall at Brownfield High School. Ron Holmes will supervise with Terry County coaches directing sessions from June 16-20 for boys and June 23-27 for girls.
