The CBS program Will Rogers U S A. airs at 8 30 p m Sunday June 9 with James Whitmore. local banks via ABA present the broadcast. Also note honors at West Texas State University and Lubbock Christian College enrollments, plus community notices and weather outlook.
Dedication events planned for Brownfield First Baptist Church after remodeling. Dr Roy McClung of Wayland Baptist College to deliver dedicatory message at 2 p.m. Regular services Sunday morning with Sunday School at 9 45 and worship at 10 45 followed by a covered dish lunch. Open house and dedicatory services open to the public.
Brownfield State Bank & Trust Co and First National Bank sponsor a CBS will air Will Rogers USA starring James Whitmore. The one man show taped in Los Angeles at the Mark Taper Forum showcases Rogers words with George Spota as producer.
Kenneth Moore defeats John L. Johnson by 49 votes in the second Democratic primary for Precinct 2 commissioner. Total 761 ballots with Moore winning three of four polling boxes and leading in absentee and Box 2 at Brownfield School Administration building. Johnson carries Meadow Box 10. Moore will appear on November general ballot unopposed after Republican primary no candidate.
Bicyclists are invited to a Bike-A-Thon on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting at the Middle School to raise money for the Terry County Unit of the American Cancer Society. Prizes await top fundraisers, with sponsor pledges per five mile laps. Entry forms are available at Jones-Lowe Insurance or from Coach Kelly Baggett.
The monthly Immunization Clinic will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at 101 South D, South Plains Health Unit. The service is for all children two months and older. Nancy Gray urges parents to have their children immunized.
L W DePoyster Brownfield is described as home after moving from Slaton with his parents. He serves as Irrigation Engine Manager for Eddins-Walcher on the Plains Highway, previously with Bowers Liquefied Gas from 1951 and through its sale in 1964. He is survived by a wife and four daughters.
