Moore Wins In Run-Off For Precinct II Commissioner
Kenneth Moore defeats John L. Johnson by 49 votes in the second Democratic primary for Precinct 2 commissioner. Total 761 ballots with Moore winning three of four polling boxes and leading in absentee and Box 2 at Brownfield School Administration building. Johnson carries Meadow Box 10. Moore will appear on November general ballot unopposed after Republican primary no candidate.

Bike-A-Thon Boosts Terry County Cancer Fund
Bicyclists are invited to a Bike-A-Thon on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting at the Middle School to raise money for the Terry County Unit of the American Cancer Society. DePoyster Brownfield Native Takes Irrigation Post
L W DePoyster Brownfield is described as home after moving from Slaton with his parents. He serves as Irrigation Engine Manager for Eddins-Walcher on the Plains Highway, previously with Bowers Liquefied Gas from 1951 and through its sale in 1964. He is survived by a wife and four daughters.
