A Large part of their lives for Many years is behind them and this thought lingers. But another of anticipation of a future also mingles w Ith the pomp ceremony and speeches of the evening. Enjoy your accomplishments seniors. Folks of All Ages Are beginning to step out in the evenings and Early mornings walking the City streets and country lanes for exercise. It seems that you can spot individuals or couples stepping Down the roads at different speeds in both Day Light and dark. It is pleasant to see and those who Arent shaping up by walking get to feeling a Little guilty each time a couple is spotted. There is a problem however some of these folks seem to think they can just walk right Dow n the Middle of the Road and that is bad enough in Broad Day Light but it could be tragic after the Sun goes Down. Walking is a healthy activity. Getting run Down by a late evening Driver is not. Please walkers like care w Hen walking after dark. The Media hype has been in full Force for several weeks about the Summit talks in Washington. And now that Gorbachev has made his appearance in our nations capital it has hit a frenzy. Gorbachev May Well be one of this country s rising celebrity superstars. His Appeal seems to rank with the music and sports stars. He is a foreigner who has captivated the american Public with Only a few non americans drawing As much interest in the past few decades. Perhaps Winston Churchill made a larger Impact with his american tour just after Wii. Or a four some from England that Drew the interest of the teenagers in the mid-60s, the beatles. Gorbachev should enjoy his celebrity status while he visits the . And other Western nations because if the news stories coming out of his Homeland Are to be believed he is not so popular in his own .s.r. Not Only that but it would seem that every time the russian president lands in the . An earthquake rumbles through his country. This is certainly a coincidence but Many citizens of his country Are convinced that the quakes Are due to the absence of their Leader. I sat before a to thursday at the noon hour and listened to a speech Gorbachev delivered at his Washington embassy. It was hard to follow and seemed to be More of an historical lecture than a policy statement it was filled with reprimands for past mistakes on both sides but it was Clear that the soviet president Felt that the United states had done its share of diplomatic waffling Over the decades. Of Well die to commentators will keep Busy for a while second guessing
