One hundred twenty Brownfield High School seniors will receive diplomas at 8 p.m. in the Big Gym. Valedictorian Kristy Hock and salutatorian Krista Moss lead the top ten. Project Graduation will follow with a chemical-free celebration from 11 p.m. to midnight and activities, prizes, and breakfast at 5 a.m. Two Union High School seniors also graduate at 8 p.m. in the UISC Cafetorium.

Krista Moss daughter of Duane and Merlene Moss named salutatorian of Brownfield High School’s graduating class. She plans to attend Brigham Young University in Provo Utah after graduation.
Brownfield High School honored its athletes at a Saturday banquet with the Aloha Cubs theme. Gerald Gonzales and Tina Casper were named Mr and Miss Cub, receiving Fighting Heart and MVP awards. Scholarships of 500 dollars each were announced for Gerald Gonzales and Lupe Davila. Casper earned the Leadership Award for Girls Track. Scottie Fuller shared the Pride Award in Boys Basketball and was Offensive Player of the Year in Football. Clarence Brown was Outstanding Cub Football Player and leading rusher.
John McCoy spoke at the American Legion Hall Memorial Day service as Reese AFB color guard raised the flag. Post Commander J B Huckabee led the Pledge of Allegiance while John Awbrey and Rev L E Laing delivered the preamble and invocation.
Terry County Swimming Pool opens this Friday at 1 p.m. and will run daily from 1 to 6 p.m. through the season. Admission is $1. Pool Manager J B Burse says water games are planned. for details call 637-3794.
Brownfield reports a May 1990 sales tax rebate of 45 471 60 down 14 69 percent from last May 53 303 91 while five month totals fall 9 39 percent to 172 255 89. County Mea dow shows 1 020 24, state totals reach 126 429 171 22 for 1 056 checks up 7 27 percent.
South Plains College Country Caravan brings 90 minute show of over 30 country hits and gospel numbers to Brownfield this Thursday at 8 30 pm in the First National Bank parking lot. Free admission sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce with refreshments available. The act features vocalists instrumentalists Appalachian clogging and western swing styled tunes.
