Commissioners Court Approves Posse Barn Use for Rodeo
In regular Monday session the Commissioners Court voted to let the Terry County Sheriff's Posse use the county show barn year to year at no charge. Profits from the rodeo will fund maintenance of the facilities. The rodeo runs July 23 to 25 and barn use will support hosting 500 to 600 visiting Posse members and serve as a site for nightly dances. Additional actions included tax roll certificates, funeral expense aid for Browfield auto accident victims, a maintenance agreement with Burroughs Company for tax office equipment, welfare case handling input from Mrs. Lorene Lee, appointment of Mrs. Lee as election judge, sheriff expense coverage for Corpus Christi convention, 4H Camp funding, and grand jury room refurbishment bids.

Rites observed Monday for eight people killed in a two car crash early Saturday in Brownfield. All eight victims died in the collision. seven from one vehicle and one from the other. Funeral services included Primo L. Ramon 34 Brownfield driver of one car, the Castro brothers Paul 22 and Lewis Jr. 13, Delia Estrada 13 James Estrada Jr. 12 Elena Rodriguez 19 Charlie Longoria 15 and Eulalia Gutierrez 14.
