Firecracker Roadrace Draws 120 Runners in Texas Tourney
The annual Firecracker Roadrace, Texas oldest continuous running event, drew 120 contestants from Brownfield and beyond to Colonial Heights for 10 mile, 3 mile, and 1 mile races. Winners included Quinn Smith of Lovington, N.M., in the 10 mile open and J.J. Whitten of Canyon in the 1 mile. Local youth from Brownfield posted several top placings across divisions as runners from Atlanta, Tulsa, Houston, Lawton, and Miami competed.

121st District Court Opens Jury Session With 33 Cases
The 121st District Court convened Wednesday morning with Judge Ray Anderson presiding. Jury call at 1 30 p m and 33 cases listed for trial. Prosecutor Dwayne Pruitt led the petit jury. multiple defendants face counts including theft, burglary, forgery and possession of marijuana.
