Citizens group weighs Brownfield school bond election
About 30 local residents formed a Citizens Action Committee at the Brownfield School Administration office to study a potential school bond issue for facility upgrades. They will tour campuses, review needs with principals, and decide whether to call a bond election. Gene Duke was elected committee chairman.

County librarian Mrs. Myrtle Head told Terry County Commissioners Court on Monday January 24 that the library loaned over 54000 books last year received 4180 in gifts and 70 in memorials and collected 56313 in fines with 1960 memorials. Missing books 12 in 1975 and 15 in 1976 and overdue 243 for 1975 and 180 for 1976 were reported. The court renewed a tax evaluation contract with Latham and Stults Inc at five percent per 100 of value and will pay 4000 monthly from January to May. A Pitney Bowes copying machine was leased for the County Clerk.

Boxing card set at Brownfield High gym Monday night
Brownfield High School gym becomes a boxing venue as local high school and out of school youths compete in a sponsored event by the Brownfield Athletic Association. About 13 to 14 bouts for students and 4 or 5 for out of school youths planned. Matches start at 6 30 p.m. Admission 150 for adults 75 for students. Trophies awarded in each weight class after three 1 minute rounds.
