Census underway in Brownfield Consolidated ISD to count students
The Brownfield Consolidated Independent School District continues its annual census for 1962 63 with 1 900 of about 3 300 expected students counted so far. Business manager Dillie M Kelly urges complete returns and notes the count determines state funds and the English class for Spanish descent children. Parents with missing blanks should contact the high school.

Brownfield MOD March Of Dimes Set To Begin Tuesday
The 1962 Brownfield March of Dimes starts at 6 30 p m Tuesday with many Brownfield mothers canvassing residential areas. General chairman Mrs Homer E Barnes directs volunteers from 806 East Hester assisted by Mrs Lewis Simmonds 312 South Second and Mrs G V Ellis 911 East Hill. The Terry Yoakum Chapter of the National Foundation sponsors the event focused on birth defects arthritis and polio research with Leonard M Ellington chairing the chapter. Residents are asked to keep front yard lights on Tuesday night and workers will drop contributions at the South Plains Health Unit.

Bill T. Goza, Brownfield, is undergoing basic training at Fort Carson Colorado as part of the Texas National Guard Take Six program. He serves in Battery B 2nd Howitzer Battalion 133rd Artillery based in Brownfield. The program allows six months of active duty followed by the remaining term in the National Guard.
