4 Hers Prove Farm Know How In West Tour

Eight men from Terry County returned from a West Texas livestock feeding and grain market development tour through Arizona and California. County Agent Jim Foy led the group with lenders and farmers including Dennis Q. Lilly First National Bank Leo Holmes Brownfield State Bank Al M Muldrow farmer oilman Bob Dumas Goodpasture Milling Joe Christian Western Farm and Grain Weldon Callaway Goodpasture Printing. They judged commercial livestock feeding feasible saying it is not a quick in and out proposition and agreed Terry could benefit from enhanced feeding programs.

Three Car Wreck Near Broad Street Ends With No Injuries

A three vehicle collision at Broad Street and 8th Street caused an estimated $850 damage. All occupants avoided injuries while a fourth vehicle escaped damage. Police officer Hester cited driving with defective brakes and excessive speed as factors in the intersection smash.

Brownfield Jaycees to Name Outstanding Young Man at 1961 Banquet

Brownfield Junior Chamber of Commerce continues a 1940 tradition by naming the Outstanding Young Man for 1960 at the 22nd annual Service Awards Banquet. Funeral services held for Mrs Ruth Hall in Calvary Baptist Church

Mrs Ruth Hall 75 of 1001 East Hes ter died Saturday while visiting a daughter in DeKalb. Funeral Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev Von Warton officiating. Burial in City of Lubbock Cemetery. Survivors include three sons W B Feazel H V Feazel and A Feazel of Lubbock four daughters and a stepson and stepdaughter plus 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Brownfield Independent School District mails census forms to parents to enumerate all children scholastic age for the 1962 63 year. Separate forms are required for each child with blanks for those turning 6 by Sept 1 1962 and under 18 by that date. A Dallas D. Douglas, a house painter, died of a heart attack Wednesday morning while working on a house at 1006 South Cedar. The body is at Brownfield Funeral Home with services pending.

World War II veteran V Wayne Perkins dies in Dallas hospital

V Wayne Perkins, 35, of 1215 East Hill in Lufkin, died January 16 at Veterans Hospital in Dallas after a long illness. He served in the Marine Corps in World War II, lived in Midland and Hobbs, and worked in oil well completion. Burial was in Garden of Memories, Lufkin, with services in the Nazarene Church and First Baptist officiants. He leaves a wife and two daughters Lynn and Debby Dee, plus his parents, siblings, and in laws.

Ropesville Rites Held For C. R. Young

Final rites were conducted Wednesday for C. R. Bob Young 78 a longtime Ropesville resident who died Monday at Brownfield General Hospital. The service at Ropesville Church of Christ was led by Garnie Atkisson with assist from Rev Dan Jones of Ropesville Nazarene. Burial followed in Ropesville Cemetery under Brownfield Funeral Home direction.

Farm Bureau Seeks Record Membership in Texas Drive

Terry County leaders Charles R. Bruce and Graham Swain attended a statewide Texas Farm Bureau meeting in Austin as the drive aims to set a new record for the 10th straight year.
