Funeral services for W. W. Johnson aged 70 will be held at Meadow First Baptist Church at 2 pm. He died from injuries when his tractor overturned Monday about 2 pm on his farm 10 miles northeast of Brownfield. Survivors include his wife, a son, two daughters, five grandchildren, and multiple siblings. Burial at Meadow cemetery with T. M. Harrell officiating.

Al Muldrow Named Secretary of State in Texas
Al Muldrow of Brownfield was appointed Secretary of State by Governor Shivers to replace Everett Fulgham who resigned. Fulgham returns to Lubbock as vice president of First National Bank. Muldrow, 45, a farmer, rancher, lawyer and businessman, has deep local service and is a veteran of the Normandy invasion, awarded the Soldiers Medal. The Senate must approve the appointment.
