Mothers' March on Polio Plans Tuesday Night Events
The Mothers' March on Polio aims for a $6,000 goal in Terry-Yoakum counties as organizers meet to assign area and block chairmen. A benefit basketball game Wednesday night funds polio efforts with 50 cent student and $1 adult admissions. A golf tournament and Teens for Polio campaign are also in planning.

Italian police charge Cline Paden for church signs
Cline R. Paden organizer of the American Church of Christ in Italy faces disturbance of the peace charges in Rome. Police removed and damaged signs he erected at the Rome church claiming a legal right. Paden 85 says magistrate court ordered police to stop actions and will pursue a court settlement.

TEC Plans Farm Labor Days on Each Tuesday
The Texas Employment Commission will hold weekly Farm Labor Days in the courthouse starting Tuesday from 9 am to 2 pm. Aubrey T. Jones, manager, said the sessions help farmers find regular or temporary farmhands for the current crop year. The first three days saw 13 farmers attend TS applicants present, 11 regular jobs and 25 temporary jobs filled.

Census Underway For Brownfield First Graders
Brownfield School Census heads into final stretch for 1955 enrollment. Census Supervisor J B Curtis urges all parents with children entering first grade to be enumerated, highlighting many oldest siblings new to the system. Last year 2 153 white and 71 colored students counted with total near 2 600 expected this year. Curtis notes state funds allotment of 68 dollars per pupil hinges on the census. Phillips Petroleum Co. moved into a site 1 320 feet south of the Joseph J. O Neill Jr No 1 Day wildcat discovery northeast of the Prentice field and plans an 8 200 foot test. The No 1 A Lacy Day lies 660 feet from the south and east lines of Section 23 Block D 12. In 1954 Terry county oil activity saw 19 wildcat locations staked, four completed, 12 dry, and others drilling. 63 field wells were staked, 57 oil wells completed, two dry and six abandoned.
