Lions Hear Unusual Address About Speaking Amid Cancer Loss
The Lions Club met at the Party House with Frank Gorton introducing L E Ross who, after losing his voice box to laryngeal cancer, spoke on learning to converse without vocal cords. He noted 34000 Americans live without speech from cancer and urged cancer awareness and regular checkups while detailing his method of teaching others to speak without electromechanical aids. He joked about hoarseness and shared a few stories as visitors from nearby towns were welcomed. The meeting also discussed Lions Camp near Kerrville, the 13th Lions Tournament of Talent, and committee planning for February events at the high school auditorium.
