New Terry County Users Association Forms In Place Of Ineligible Group
The Terry County Farmers Association is replaced by the Terry County Users Association after the U S Labor Department ruled the previous group ineligible for Mexican National Program participation. Ed Dean of the West Texas Agricultural Employers Association and A M Muldrow of Brownfield led the transition with a 7 pm meeting at 121st District Court. Members may transfer memberships and braceros, with a 15 day grace for ongoing contracts, to the new organization which will operate from 208 Tahoka Hwy and is expected to be active soon.

Terry County across the year 1960 posted gains in bank deposits, utility meters, and new pipes. First National tallied 7 797 348 dollars, Brownfield State 13 164 419, Brownfield Savings 8 267 776. General Telephone 4 117 instruments in use, Pioneer Natural Gas meters 3 159, and 565 births with 283 boys and 285 girls. Postmaster Brown reported 123 168 in receipts. Cotton remains the county’s economic backbone.

Brownfield residents have shifted from kerosene lamps to electric living as city power expands. Five generators serve business, residential, and nearby gun ranges, with a 75 horsepower plant in 1923 and a new 5000 horsepower diesel adding 3600 kilowatts. In 1960 Brownfield used 25,253,200 kilowatt hours, peaking during November ginning and summer air conditioning months. City Secretary Jake Geron notes months from June to December exceed two million kilowatt hours each.
