The News left the Middle School Auditorium Monday evening tired but pleased after hosting the Homemakers School. Dawn Garby demonstrated step by step recipes, with mirrors showing the audience her kitchen work. Brownfield residents backed the event with donations and help. Lindsey's Appliances supplied on stage ranges and a microwave, while United Super Markets provided 20 sacks of groceries as prizes. Anthony’s and Collins supplied sacks for attendees' goodie bags, drawing community appreciation.

BISD Trustees approve extended contracts for 12 principals and staff
After a two hour executive session the Brownfield School Board extended contracts for 12 BISD principals and administrative personnel through 1987-88, extended two through Spring 1987, and accepted resignations of two faculty members. Administrative extensions include Pinson Willis Niles Sides Buesing Niles Farmer and five principals White Arnold Geron Hargrave Cawthon through 1988. Terry County's stock show season wrapped Saturday with grand champions named in lamb and steer divisions and the premium sale at the county ag bar. Judging began Friday with 203 swine from Brownfield Meadow Wellman and Union, crowned Yorkshire exhibitor Raef Reese as grand champion and Lauri Jones as reserve.
