Commissioners Work Long Agenda Monday

The Terry County Commissioners approved a Dodge pickup bid from Kelsay-Blacklock at net 8,545.25 after discounts, reviewed an ambulance report showing 45 runs with a 92.85 percent collection rate, and discussed service and dealership questions while handling varied items. They also approved a $400 payment to the Ninth Administrative Judicial District and signaled plans for Brownfield Girls Little Dribblers signups at the Intermediate School Cafeteria.

Councilmen To Study Power Rate Increase

Hospital Board Hears Bid on New Computer System

The Terry Memorial Hospital Board will seek bids on a new computer system to replace the NCR setup. Consultant Buddy Kelsay of Goodpasture Inc. touted a flexible, lower cost option, with quotes around 89 000 from Universal Computer Products and 125 000 for IBM. Neil Honey described a hospital tailored system from Universal using DEC hardware, capable of running in about 120 days with training for three BRMC staffers in San Antonio.

Meadow Girl Cagers Win District Title

Meadow Varsity Girls Basketball won the district 8 class A title with a 52 45 victory over Ropes. Julisa Barrier scored 23, D D Dunn 11, Crystal Brooks 10. Dunn 15 and Barrier 13 led in rebounds as Meadow led 7 6 early and held a 21 19 halftime edge.

City Opens New Landfill and Ends Old Site Policy

Brownfield announces a new municipal landfill south of town that will accept refuse starting Monday while the old North Highway 137 site closes. Residents must haul trash to the new site, with access via South B Street or Webb Street. Prohibitions include oil field waste gin trash large dead animals and unwashed pesticide and herbicide containers.

Brownfield Banquet Guests Speaker and Citizen of the Year Named

The Brownfield Chamber of Commerce Banquet set for 7 p m Saturday at Brownfield High School Commons will feature Justin Wilson as guest speaker. Tickets are 10 dollars each and available at the Chamber office or from directors. The event will name Terry County 1982 Citizen of the Year by 1981 honoree Don Hendley.
