Deadline Set March 2 for Terry County Elections Filings

Government filings for the April 2 Terry County elections progress slowly with about three weeks left until March 2. As of Friday morning no candidates had filed for any of the Brown Field City Council at large seats held by Steve Sandlin Leon Pope and Speedy Lindsey.

Tealer Convicted In Hammer Murder Trial

In two jury trials this week in 121st District Court Roy Lee Tealer 22 Brownfield was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 15 years in the Texas Department of Corrections. Judge Ray Anderson presided with prosecutor Dwayne Pruitt. Tealer charged in the Nov 30 slaying of Oscar Holcombe 46 Brownfield. Holcombe died Dec 3 after being hit with a blunt instrument. Cheney found guilty of theft of service four year term.

Union School Board Sets Monday Meet

City Police Arrest Three In Separate Incidents

Brownfield police report three arrests from Tuesday to Friday including a traffic warrant, a combined charge of public intoxication disorderly conduct and burglary of a motor vehicle, and a juvenile theft. A theft of an HBO box about $100 occurred on East Tate, plus jewelry gold watch ring boots stolen on North A Street. Two $50 bills were taken from North 12th Street with a damaged kitchen window screen noted.

Reward offered for burglary information in Tate Street case

Brownfield Crime Information Inc offers 300 reward for information leading to arrest and indictment of person or persons involved in a residence burglary at 407 E Tate. The burglary occurred Wednesday February 9, 1983 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:50 p.m. Taken item is a Landmark Cablevision HBO Box serial 3783 F2.

Reward Offered for Burglary at 214 N 12th Residence

A $300 reward is offered for information leading to the person or persons responsible for a burglary at a residence on 214 North 12th Street occurring the night of February 7, 1983. Entry was gained by cutting a kitchen window screen and entering through the window. The theft included two $50 bills.

police report two suspects broke a glass door early Saturday February 5 1983 entering NBC Equipment on Lubbock Road and stole six handguns with investigators seeking leads and reporting no injuries.

Commissioners To Assess County Pavement Damage

The Terry County Commissioners meet at 10 a.m. Monday in the courthouse with a 12 item agenda. Terry Memorial Hospital District board to meet Monday evening

The Terry Memorial Hospital District Board of Directors will meet at 7 p.m. in the hospital boardroom to discuss the April 2 election, with four directors up for two year terms including Minnie Hazel Bowman Joe Masso Bob Bailey and John Duggan. The agenda includes a hospital computer system presentation by Buddy Kelsay of Goodpasture an administrator’s report from BRMC and staff recommendations.
