Kendrick Named to Water District Board in West Texas

John Kendrick headlined a five member slate named to the newly formed South Plains Underground Water Conservation District No. 4 formed after a Wednesday hearing in Lamesa. The district includes parts of Gaines, Andrews, Cochran, Lynn, Terry, Yoakum and Dawson counties and will oversee underground water use and conservation with local control, avoiding state or federal intervention. The district must gain voter approval in each county, with participation optional by section. The meeting drew about 150 business leaders and farmers from seven counties, and action was taken swiftly at the La Mesa High School auditorium.
