Three Nabbed In Failed Burglary
Brownfield City police nabbed three teenagers after staking out a pool hall at Seventh and Hill Streets. Officers entered at 11 p.m. and the trio, including a 16 year old, used screwdrivers crow bars and money wrappers before breaking in at 11 20. Arrested were Antonio Galvan 17 Leopoldo Martinez Jr 17 and a 16 year old. The arrests cleared at least six burglaries under investigation.

Adult Night Classes Begin Feb 12 at Brownfield High
Registration for the second semester of adult night classes at Brownfield High School will be held at 7 p.m. Feb 12 with the first classes that night. Classes meet weekly for 15 weeks 7 to 9 p.m. and cover drafting typing Spanish bookkeeping art and shorthand. Tuition is 15 dollars payable at registration.

Ellington To Head Easter Seal Drive in Terry County
Leonard Ellington has been named chairman of the 1968 Easter Seal Campaign in Terry County. The drive runs March 1 to April 14 Easter Sunday with goal of aiding crippled children and adults through the Easter Seal Society. Ellington, a Brownfield civic leader and bank official, cited community support as crucial to continued rehabilitation services. The Easter Seal Society operates 1400 state and local affiliates and served 16 522 Texans in 1967 with a 4 000 strong professional staff.

Brownfield residents used 27 077 100 gallons in January with a peak of 1 449 000 on January 23 and a low of 291 000 on January 24. This January use is 2 517 400 gallons less than last January's 29 594 500, which saw a high of 1 147 800 on January 5 and a low of 817 200 on January 28.

Brownfield City Council Approves Thompson as Fire Chief
In regular session at 8 30 a m the Brownfield City Council approved Phillip Thompson for fire chief after the department elected him to the post. Jake Geron reported remodeling plans for the post office building into a courthouse police civil defense HQ and city jail with City Hall modifications to follow. The council also discussed traffic signals at Buckley Seagraves Road Cardwell Seagraves Road and Tate Seagraves Road and left turn signals at Lubbock Tohoka Highways with state approval.

Community road block fundraiser raises 214 dollars
JC's Aid MOD Brownfield Jaycees collected 214.30 for the Terry-Yoa Kum Chapter of the National Foundation during a Main Street and Broadway road block campaign. Chapter president Marion Snell said the total marked about a 30 percent gain over 1967 proceeds.
