The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports former Brownfield State Bank President Sam Spikes has been indicted on six new federal counts, joining a 12 count core case accusing him and associates of conspiracy, misapplication of funds, falsified financial statements, coverups, and mail and wire fraud. Several co-defendants are named, with two cooperating defendants dropped from the case. two have sought separate trials.
The Goodfellows continue to accept cash and toy donations to brighten local children and families this Christmas. Each child on their list should receive two new toys and families a good Christmas meal. Toys can be left at the fire station and donations at city hall. The group is partly funded by United Way and relies on individual gifts.

The Brownfield School District offers free adult education in Terry County with GED prep and basic reading and writing classes at Brownfield High School. Classes run Tuesdays and Thursdays 7 to 9 p.m. overseen by Fern Niles with instructors Isabel Contreras Irene Rieck and Nonie Cawthon.
