Brownfield Rotary Invites Youth Basketball Tournament

Brownfield Rotary Club sponsors the first annual Rotary Invitational at Cub Gym from Thursday through Saturday. Varsity features six teams led by the Brownfield Cubs, plus Abernathy, Sweetwater, Denver City, Lubbock Coronado JV and Eunice New Mexico. JV includes eight teams with Brownfield and others from Lubbock Monterey Lamesa Big Spring Eunice Denver City Meadow and Union. Single game tickets are 2 for adults and 1 for students, with tournament and session passes via Pat O Daniel at First National Bank. Proceeds go to the Rotary Polio Plus Fund.

County Commissioners Post Agenda For Monday

Terry County Commissioners Court schedules a 10 a.m. session at the Courthouse to weigh pay raises for elected officials heads of office and all full-time county employees. The plan includes three percent raises for certain officials and five percent for staff, plus budget amendments and office reports. The meeting reschedules from Monday December 26 to Thursday December 22.

MISD Trustees Set Discussion Monday Morning

Meadow Independent School District board of trustees will meet at 8 a.m. in the superintendent’s board room to discuss district improvement and performance plans, adoption steps, and various action items including carpeting for the home economics room and a bus purchase decision. The coaching staff will be consulted on future Christmas tournament scheduling, four teachers will discuss class happenings, and Mr. Dale Wiley will be questioned about city water use. Principals and the superintendent will report, the 1987 88 audit reviewed, and routine items like orders, bills, minutes, and public input included.

Jones joins County Attorney office

The Jones family of Dumas long tied to farming and ranching produced Louis Jones the Assistant County Attorney for Terry County. Chamber elects Rubilee Craig 1989 Chamber president
