Terry County Fair Opens October with 11th Annual Event
The 11th Terry County Fair runs October 2–4 at the National Guard Armory celebrating Together We Are Texas. Exhibits enter October 2 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pet pre-registration is that time. Flower entries on October 3 from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Judging starts 8:30 a.m. daily. fair open to public 1–7 p.m. on Oct 3 and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct 4. pet show at 2 p.m. on the front lawn. Terry County Commissioners unanimously approved the existing 20 cents per $100 valuation for 1987 despite a sharp drop in property values. The budget totals 4.54 million with 2.20 million expected from property taxes at a 95 percent collection rate, the rest from fees and fines.

Old Settlers Reunion Draws Large Crowd at 26th Event
The Terry County Old Settlers Association held its 26th reunion at the American Legion Hall with a noon meal and a 12:30 program. Officials for 1985 86 were elected including Herbert Chesshir as judge and J W Hawkins as outgoing president. Awards went to Mrs. Haydn Griffin aged 90 as Oldest Woman Present and Willie McDonald as Oldest Man Present, both winning $25 scratch pads. Herman Drury traveled from Corning California to attend and won a cash prize plus a door prize.

Final Week to Submit 1986 Terry County Farm Awards

Beginning Computer Class Set for Adults
Rita Kisor will teach Beginning Computer literacy I for beginners using Apple IIe computers in the Middle School Computer Lab. Classes start Monday Sept 15 and run weekly through Sept 27 from 6 30 to 9 30 p m with topics on basic computer knowledge history terminology word processing data bases spreadsheets and beginning programming.
