Brownfield Independent School District schedules first week registration for four year olds through eighth grade ahead of school opening on September 2. Applications are being taken until Aug 31 for the Terry County farm awards to be presented after the farm tour on Sept 18. Nominations may be submitted at the Chamber of Commerce or Terry Soil and Water Conservation District offices. Awards include Farm Family of the Year Young Farmer of the Year Dryland Farmer of the Year and Agribusinessman of the Year. In 1985 Keith Cato won Farm Family of the Year Joe Fleming Dryland Farmer of the Year Frank Melcher Agribusinessman of the Year and Joe Flowers Young Farmer of the Year.
