The Brownfield Rebekah Lodge 56 met at 8 p.m. in the IOOF hall August 19 with Noble Grand Ozella Hill presiding. Ill reports included Dee Foster and J C Wooley. New member Jimmie Lee Moorhead welcomed. Stella Harkins memorial draped. Kathleen Pickett’s brother-in-law Martin Warren died. Members sent 18 food baskets, 22 cards, 35 visits, 2 bouquets, 11 gifts. 28 members present. Friendship night invited Aug 26 in Lamesa. Dessie Stone thanked for courtesies after a broken arm. Kathleen Pickett and Jimmie Lee Moorhead sang Precious Memories with Virgie Dunwoody at piano. Salad supper followed.

Firearms safety classes offered at SPC this fall
Three firearms safety classes will be held this fall at South Plains College to prepare students for SPCs indoor pistol firing range. Classes run Sept 14 Oct 26 and Dec 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Petroleum Technology Building led by George Lawless and Larry Nichols with cost of 15 dollars. Open range shooting for qualified persons is Sept 28 Oct 12 Nov 9 and Nov 23 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4 dollars per hour. Participants must provide their own handgun and ammunition.
