25th Time Terry Settlers Relive Memories in Brownfield
Terry County Old Settlers marked its 25th gathering at the Brownfield American Legion Hall on the fourth Saturday of August with 280 attendees from near and far. The day featured 9 a.m. registrations, a noon meal, music by Bob and Bill Suggs, and awards for the oldest man and woman, longest married couple, and farthest traveler, plus door prizes and local donations.

Commissioners hear views on 1986 Terry budget
Terry County commissioners held a public hearing on the 1986 budget to be voted Sept. 9 and effective Jan. 1. The meeting outlined a 20 cent per 100 dollar tax rate with estimated ad valorem tax receipts of 2.499 million plus other receipts totaling 4.1335 million to balance the budget. Citizens from the Ken drick Memorial Library Board urged a 100 dollar monthly raise for Head Librarian Irene Paddock, beyond the 5 percent across the board increase.
