Terry County and the Terry County Pioneer Association sponsor the 26th annual Old Settlers gathering at the American Legion Hall. J W Hawkins presides. Registration begins at 9 a m with a noon meal costing 2 dollars per person. attendees should bring a covered dish. A memorial service, musical program, and gifts to the eldest couple and the longest-married pair, plus the traveler from furthest distance, are planned.

BISD Board Sets November Election And Budget
The Brownfield BISD board in a two hour session called a November 15 election, adopted the 1986 87 budget and approved four new teachers for fall. Voting rights litigation delayed the earlier April vote and a three year shift to district based representation begins by 1988. Terms of board members Andrews and McVay end. districts two and four vote on November 15. candidates face Oct 15 filing and Oct 16 registration deadlines. The budget totals 7 565 339 with a $114 monthly raise for teachers on a 10 month pay scale and tax rate postponed until after the legislature. Four new instructors were approved for fall.
