Brownfield Police to Host 20 Hour Narcotics Seminar

Captain J T Churchwell announced Brownfield Police will host a basic narcotics seminar from 8 a m to 5 p m Wednesday through Friday. The 20 hour course is open to all area officers with instructor Carl Williams of Midland, Austin based Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education member.

Punt Pass and Kick prep by local groups in Brownfield

Local clubs and leaders gear up for the Punt Pass and Kick contest with registration next month. Wellman Incorporation Petition Moves Forward in Terry County

Residents of Wellman ten miles south of Brownfield in Terry County filed for incorporation. Judge Herbert Chesshir set a September 10 hearing to name an election date under Texas law. Signers include Herman Moseley, Homer E. Jones, Edwin R. Knox, and many others amid a broader notice of the proposed city limits. Local Punt, Pass & Kick events return for 1975 with Brownfield Optimist Club and Charles Darwin Ford sponsorship. National PP&K marks its 15th anniversary with Ford Dealers and the NFL. Participation, rules, and age eligibility are detailed for eight-to-thirteen-year-olds.

Youth Loses Sight Of Eye In Box Tool Accident

Clay Forbes five-year-old son of Ronnie and Shere Forbes of New Home lost sight of his left eye while brothers Klint and Clay punched holes in a cardboard box with a screwdriver. He underwent surgery at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock and is listed in satisfactory condition.

Grinding Crash Welds Pickups General Hospital

Two injured in a grinding crash were treated at General Hospital with only two kept for observation. The injured named are Mrs Grady Hale of Denton and John Blanchard of Hobbs. Complete details were unavailable at press time. Newsnote by Celeste Thomas.

Burglary Wave Hits Brownfield Police Log

Brownfield police records show multiple burglaries and thefts with four reports Wednesday. Larry's Chemical and Spraying saw a pry of the north door and damage to a soft drink machine estimated at about 50 dollars. a motel unit window entry yielded a shag rug and broken lamp and mirror with 125 dollars damage. A North 9th residence window screen was torn and four dollars in change reported missing. Investigators note continued property losses across the area.

School to Host Gun Safety Course at Brownfield High

Brownfield Schools will offer a four day gun safety course September 15 18 in the high school Little Theatre instructor Earl Elrod leads clock hour sessions from 725 to 825 each morning with 1 fee for materials open to students and adults. Three New Board Members Up For Election In Terry County

Three new members to the Terry County Community Action Board of Directors will be elected Monday. Voting will occur in one box at the Terry County Community Action Building from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All residents are urged to vote.

Robert L. Becker of Brownfield High, a vocational agriculture teacher and FFA advisor for 18 years, is nominated by the Texas FFA Association for the National FFA Honorary American Farmer Degree. The nomination, approved by the National FFA board, awaits final student delegates vote at the Kansas City convention.
