Terry County Pioneer Reunion Schedule of Events

The Terry County Pioneer Reunion on Saturday at the American Legion Hall begins with 9 a.m. registration with a $1 fee. Lunch runs 12 noon to 1 30 p.m. A memorial service follows, then a business meeting led by Harold Sims, and entertainment led by Leonard Ellington. The oldest attendee and the one traveling farthest will receive Terry County bicentennial medallions. Alfred Bond chairs the food committee and Mrs. Bobbie Montgomery handles registration as secretary-treasurer.

Prominent Brownfield Leader Eddie Hill Dies at 59

Prominent businessman and civic leader Eddie D Hill died after being pronounced at 7:25 p.m. Monday at Brownfield General Hospital. He played golf at Brownfield Country Club when he collapsed. Services were held Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Metzger officiating. Interment followed in Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Hill served on multiple local boards and groups including Brownfield Chamber of Commerce, Masonic orders, Lions Club, and Red Coats. He was born in Sulphur Springs and trained in Lubbock. he married Mary Alice Arend in 1939 in Portales New Mexico before moving to Brownfield.
