Meadow Farm Family Among State Finalists
The Texas Farm Bureau lists Monty and Cindy Henson of Terry County as finalists for outstanding young farmer and rancher. Monty and Cindy, lifelong residents and Brownfield High School and Texas Tech graduates, have held local farm bureaus roles and grow 850 irrigated cotton 910 dryland cotton 35 maize and 40 wheat acres. Monty has 12 years of farming experience and notes a desire for dry periods after a difficult season requiring 350 acres replanted. George Henson, Monty’s father, also farms in Terry County and co-owns Larry's Chemical and Spraying.

Terry County commissioners accepted Esterall Producing Corporation of Midland bid for mineral rights on 75 acres of county school land in Gaines County. Plane Crash Hospitalizes Crop Duster Near Brownfield
A Brownfield man, Jerry Liles, is hospitalized in Lubbock General with a broken arm and leg, hip injuries, and possible internal injuries after his Piper Pawnee 235 crop dusting plane clipped wingtip prop wash from a nearby aircraft north of Brownfield. The crash occurred around 8:40 p.m. Saturday on the R. H. Clemments farm about 30 miles north of Brownfield. Liles escaped on his own power, was treated at Brownfield Regional Medical Center, and later transferred to Lubbock.
