Coach Charles Keese announced fall tryouts and workouts start August 18 with required physical exams paid by players due to league rules. About 60 boys expected. seniors and sophomores train 9 to 11 am and 5 to 8 pm, freshmen report August 25. Birth certificates must be filed in the principal’s office.

Terry County Commission ers Court on July 29 approved a $20 per day salary for part time truck drivers and maintenance operators. The court accepted bids for a new truck for Precinct 2 and the Quarterly Report of the County Treasurer. County Judge W T Mee Kinney presided and appointed John Forsyth to replace the late Phil Gaasch on the board.
Ruth Warren reports on Amendment No. 2 the Texas water bond measure up for Aug. 5 vote. Prominent supporters including John J. Kendrick of Water Inc. and Gov. Preston Smith cite the plan’s role in financing reservoirs canals and other water developments under the Texas Water Plan. Voter turnout concerns are raised by local farmers and leaders as three former governors back the statewide effort.
The Brownfield Lions Club was honored Wednesday with an appreciation trophy presented by the Little League organization. The ceremony highlighted community service and club achievements in the year.
An all station bulletin from Lubbock and San Antonio seeks 20 year old James Pruitt missing since July 21 after an accident in Uvalde. Mrs Pruitt fears foul play and asks for information to call 637 3179 in Brownfield or collect at EX 25968 in Hobbs New Mexico. Pruitt is 6 1 tall blue eyed with glasses and drives a Texas plate Austin Healey CJT623.
John Kendrick a prominent county and state figure voices concern as the water amendment appears on Tuesday ballots. Kendrick, former Water Inc president and First National Bank leader, highlights his long held dream of abundant water and quality resources.
