East Texas Voters Nix Texas Water Plan in Big Vote
East Texans voted heavily against the Texas Water Plan while approving a 20 million welfare ceiling raise. Terry County saw 1189 for Amendment 2 and 108 against with 1327 voters. First National Bank President John J. Kendrick was in Austin on business. County Clerk Frank T. Gray notes Terry County has 4,546 registered voters.

Certification Farm Deadline Sets Aug. 15 for 1969 Crops
Farm operators are reminded that August 15 is the final date to certify 1969 crop acreages of cotton, feed grains, peanuts, and diverted acres in Terry County. Only around half of farms have certification so far and six working days remain for filings at the county office. A change in 1970 upland cotton transfer provisions allows transfers of allotments by the County Committee without regard to small farm criteria, but new small farm payment eligibility rules apply to transfers creating small farms.

Soldier Robert Yeager Wounded in Vietnam Eye Injury
SP-4 Robert Yeager was wounded on August 4 in Vietnam with a gunshot to the right eye. He is hospitalized in Vietnam with condition unavailable. Yeager previously earned a Commendation Medal for Outstanding Duty. He is survived by his wife Caroline and infant daughter Sherrie, and his parents Mr and Mrs A J Crutcher of Tokio.

Meadow Needmore Women Form Cotton Boosters
Mrs. HT. BH. Askew president of the Cotton Boosters of Terry County spoke at Meadow High School during a Meadow Needmore tea.
