Brownfield Council Names Davis to One Year At Large Seat
Brownfield City Council appointed Bob Davis to a one year at large term as councilman and set a plan to meet with county and hospital district officials about reimbursing ambulance building costs. The council expanded from five to seven members under a voting rights settlement with districts one two three and the mayor elected in even years and districts four five and two at large elected in odd years. Davis will vie for election in Spring 1987 with two nominations for the seat.

Two City Banks See Asset Growth in First Quarter 1986
Brownfield State Bank and First National Bank report total assets of 128.237 million and deposits of 117.166 million as of March 31 1986, reflecting gains from a weaker local economy. Loans total 31.192 million, down 4.4 percent from March 31 1985 and down 17.2 percent from December 31 1985, while individual bank figures show asset and deposit increases at BSB and mixed loan shifts at FNB.

Noon Lions open Talent Show with top prize bonds
The Brownfield Noon Lions hosted the first night of their Talent tournament drawing about two dozen entrants. Elementary and junior high winners received savings bonds of 100 75 and 50 dollars for first second and third place respectively. In junior high Bradly Shannon won with a drums solo while Kemi Cobn sang Five Foot Two as runner up and Shanda Kelly with Vangie Fox performed Secret Lovers for third.

Open House to honor Hall at Terry Soil and Water District
The Terry Soil and Water Conservation District hosts an open house for retiring Thomas Hall from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at the district office, 201 E Hill. Four cases dispose in 121st District Court
Judge Ray Anderson presided as four cases were disposed Wednesday and Thursday. Pedro Rodriguez Jr. pled guilty to sexual assault and received eight years in the Texas Department of Corrections after a plea bargain. Rodriguez had been initially empanelled for trial and then changed to guilty.
