Cliff Toliver Named Four Year Merit Scholar Recipient
Cliff Toliver, son of Coke and Mrs Toliver of 1109 East Buckley, won a four year Merit Scholarship announced April 14 by Edward G. Smith of NMSC. Toliver attends Brownfield High School and holds leadership roles in Cub's Den, Quill and Scroll, and Youth for Christ. Operation Kick-It Scheduled For BHS
A drug program titled Operation Kick-It will be shown to Brownfield High School students at 9 a.m. Thursday April 29 in the new gym. Gerald Huffaker and Sheriff Norvell Redwine with the National Honor Society organized the Texas Department of Corrections program, touring Brownfield Tahoka Wilson New Home Post Lamesa and Seagraves to warn youths that illegal drugs are dangerous and drug abuse is a crime. Four inmate panelists aged 17 to 21 share their stories of crime and imprisonment, funded by a Governor’s Justice Council grant and similar to the earlier Operation Teenager program.
