Solons Discuss Salary Increase In Terry County

Terry County Commissioners voted unanimously to advertise their plan to discuss salary increases for county employees at the April 26 regular meeting. The group also approved welfare payments, gas bills for five indigents, rent for one indigent, and welfare commodities for one person. They approved travel expenses for Dale Brown to the Veteran Service Officers School and for Commissioner John L. Johnson and County Judge W. T. McKinney to a TSTI meeting in Sweetwater, plus costs for Judge Mcey to a juvenile de Looney school in Big Spring. The panel also funded Meador Deputy Sheriff Dale Wylie's car licensing and canvassed votes for hospital district and school trustee elections.

The Terry Memorial Hospital District re elected four new directors from an April 3 vote and sworn in Wayne Rousseau along with incumbents Ronald Stice, William Cowan and Robert Beasley. J W Riley was named president with Cowan as vice president and L G Smith secretary.

Mrs Akers Elected To TB and RD Post

Mrs J D Got Akers chosen as vice president of the TB and RD Association at a meeting in Lubbock. Akers has been the secretary. Dr Cadman Chaffin elected president of the 23 county association. Locally Rev Frank Brooks serves as Terry County chapter president and Mrs Conrad Ratliff as secretary.

Moving Week Arrives For City High School

Teachers To Attend In-Service Program In Brownfield

Teachers in Brownfield prepare for a week long in service program led by Dr. W C Newberry on April 21. Newberry will address human relations and teaching as workshops to teachers. Dr Zevely of West Texas State University will speak on April 23 at the new high school auditorium and Little Theater sessions.

63 Arrests Made During Past Month

Terry County Sheriff's Department reported 63 arrests in March, mostly in Terry County. The force logged 15,150 miles in four vehicles, delivered 206 civil papers, fed 268 prisoners at 43 cents daily, and spent about 2300 dollars. Major expenses included vehicle upkeep 507.94 for gas and oil, 439.08 vehicle repairs, 130 tires, 61.41 wash and grease, plus radio repairs 227.36. The department handled 37 calls, 10 offense reports, and recovered 1319 dollars in stolen property.
