Brownfield to open Sub-title D landfill with recycling centers
Brownfield plans to open two acres of its new Sub-title D landfill in late April or May, allowing local disposal and attracting nearby towns. A weigh-in scale and nine recycling bins for grass clippings, limbs, tires, metal, pallets, refrigerants, appliances, and concrete will be added to save space and taxpayer dollars. City crews worked long hours since construction began last July to excavate the 40 foot hole, with future expansion planned over the next 50 to 60 years to use all 150 acres.
